18th Century Walnut and Fruitwood Parquetry Commode

Circa 1760

Of serpentine form; with broad walnut banding throughout and inlaid with trompe l'oeil geometric parquetry panels incorporating fruitwood, olive wood, and purpleheart; mounted with silver hardware; fitted with two long drawers mounted with silver bale handles and escutcheon, over a shaped apron and outswept legs. Bearing the old label of esteemed Florentine dealer Guido Bartolozzi, Via Maggio, 6, Firenze, who opened in 1877.
