Hand-constructed columnar black box situated on a plinth and topped with a lid boasting a capital. The entire exterior is wrapped with black and silver porphyry-inspired, hand-painted paper. A hand-colored photogravure of a Grecian bust is positioned on one side. The removable lid reveals a painted black interior.

Thomas Engelhart (American, 1972–) is an artist living and working in New York City. His boxes and objects are explorations of color, pattern and form. The papers are hand painted in studio before being applied to the hand constructed boxes. Each piece is truly unique.
