Bargello is said to originate from 17th Century Florence, when a Medici married a Hungarian Princess. Decorative Hungarian tradition met with Italian straight-line stitching and Bargello was born. Using long stitches formed by skipping holes on the canvas, vivid and contrasting colours come together to create an eye-catching, bold, geometric design. Forming part of Fine Cell Work's Canvaswork Open College Network qualification, this Bargello piece is an important part of a stitcher's journey.
