Exuberant Square Mirror

This excitingly-shaped mirror was hand-created by the artist with a square mirror form and four ribbon shapes sprouting from each side. The flourishes are wrapped in a yellow and gold, porphyry-inspired and hand-painted paper, while the sloping frame has been wrapped in a multi toned blue and white, porphyry-inspired paper. The mirror itself is low iron. The back of the object has been fitted with a D-ring for hanging.

Thomas Engelhart (American, 1972–) is an artist living and working in New York City. His boxes and objects are explorations of color, pattern and form. The papers are hand painted in studio before being applied to the hand constructed boxes. Each piece is truly unique.
