A large hand-constructed lidded box, tapering towards the base. A deep line cut out runs around the perimeter. The lidded top features two stepped ornamental, trapezoidal flourishes. The box is wrapped with black and magenta porphyry-inspired, hand-painted paper with subtle touches of metallic rose-gold and lavender in the porphyry design. The interior of the box is papered with the same as is covering the exterior.

Thomas Engelhart

Thomas Engelhart (American, 1972–) is an artist living and working in New York City. His boxes and objects are explorations of color, pattern and form. The papers are hand painted in studio before being applied to the hand constructed boxes. Each piece is truly unique.
