This large hand-constructed box is comprised of a tapered base and removable lid. The body is decorated with geometric cut outs and the lid is outfitted with two stacked trapezoidal forms. The entire piece is wrapped in a blue based porphyry paper. The interior of the box is covered with the same paper as the exterior.

Thomas Engelhart (American, 1972–) is an artist living and working in New York City. His boxes and objects are explorations of color, pattern and form. The papers are hand painted in studio before being applied to the hand constructed boxes. Each piece is truly unique.
